Whatever follow-up treatment you end up going to after you leave rehab is basically up to you. There are a couple of excellent options for alcohol treatment once you are done with the alcohol withdrawal and all of the other things that you are going to go through when you are at rehab.

So if you want to learn more about this topic, then please continue reading this article because I’d like to provide you with a few different choices that you might want to check out once your rehab stint is done. So let’s take a look at some of the choices that you have right now.

Alcoholism Aftercare TreatmentAlcohol Counseling

This is a very good option for anybody who knows that they need to get some type of help once the rehab is through, but they do not want to go to some type of a program that is going to have them in a group setting.

Honestly though, the alcohol counselor is probably going to end up recommending that you get involved in some type of a group therapy because it’s very effective, but at least you do have the option of getting some type of alcohol counseling if you really aren’t going to enter into a group program. This is good because the alcohol counselor will be able to work with you and keep you on a path that is basically filled with sobriety instead of drinking.

Joining Alcoholics Anonymous

This is an excellent way for you to truly be able to quit drinking once and for all. Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is an tremendous organization that has helped millions of people stay clean and sober, and they do it all for free. You do not have to pay a penny for this treatment, although they do ask you for donations to help keep your local meetings running.

And if you get a lot out of this situation like so many alcoholics do, then you’re going to be happy to donate to the local group so that you can keep your extended family together and keep everybody clean and sober. This is an excellent organization, and they really will help you keep your drinking in check so that you do not continue down the really bad path that you were on before you entered into rehab and then joined Alcoholics Anonymous.

Therapy

You don’t necessarily need to speak directly with an alcohol counselor if you are going to try and treat your drinking addiction. Although I have to admit that it is highly recommended that you spend time with somebody who is an expert in this field. But at least you will be talking to somebody if you don’t plan on meeting with a counselor, and that is certainly better than nothing at all.

Just make sure you let the therapist know that you have a drinking problem and that it is a major issue for you that you need help with. The therapist will be qualified enough in addiction to be able to offer you tips and advice that will help you stay on the clean and sober path.

But I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the therapist ends up recommending Alcoholics Anonymous to you because it is such an effective way to stay sober for good. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to work with an effective program, but some people just don’t want to do that and that’s completely understandable.

Religion

There are other people who are fully capable of quitting their alcohol addiction by calling on the power of God and having Him enter into their life. While this is not an effective method for everybody, it certainly works for people who are religious and believe in God.

These are just some of the many different options available to you for aftercare treatment once you get out of an alcohol addiction program. The main thing you need to take care of is your alcohol withdrawal, and once that’s over you could basically join any type of treatment that you’d like as long as it’s effective and it’s going to help you stay clean.
